In a tragic loss to the Kannada film industry, actor Santhosh Balaraj passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the age of 34.
The actor succumbed to complications arising from a severe case of jaundice.
Balaraj had been battling the illness for several weeks and was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Bengaluru.
Despite medical efforts, his condition worsened, leading to his untimely demise. The news has sent shockwaves throughout the Sandalwood community and among his fans.
Santhosh Balaraj was the son of the late film producer Anekal Balaraj, who was known for producing the 2003 hit film 'Kariya'.
Tragedy had previously struck the family in 2022 when Anekal Balaraj passed away in a road accident.
Balaraj made a name for himself with his intense performances in several films. He gained immense popularity for his role in the 2015 action thriller 'Ganapa'.
His other notable works include 'Kariya 2', 'Olavine Ole', and his debut film 'Kempa'.
He was appreciated for his ability to portray rugged, action-driven characters with depth.
Santhosh, who was unmarried, lived with his mother and was continuing his father's legacy in the film industry.[1] His last on-screen appearance was in the 2017 action gangster film 'Kariya 2'.
