RAASHI KHANNA SLAMS STEREOTYPE FEMALE ROLES -WOMEN ARE NOT PROPS

Actress Raashi Khanna, currently in the spotlight for her role in 120 Bahadur, has made a bold and unapologetic statement on the state of female representation in cinema.

Despite the film’s lukewarm box office performance, Raashi is not shying away from calling out the industry's long-standing gender bias.

“Women have been treated like props in movies for ages. That’s true everywhere—not just South films, Bollywood is no different,” she stated in a recent interview.

Raashi, who has films like Ustad Bhagat Singh and Bridge lined up, candidly shared how her career hasn't always followed predictable patterns. Sometimes flops lead to more offers, and hits don’t always guarantee momentum. Yet, she's staying grounded and vocal:

“I’ve stopped worrying about success or failure. I just think things need to change.”

While Tollywood has mostly given her commercial, glam-heavy roles, she feels Bollywood has leaned more towards concept-driven scripts. Still, she’s not content being sidelined — she wants substantial roles that go beyond being ‘decorative’.

As more actresses speak out, Raashi’s voice adds to the growing demand for meaningful, empowered female characters on screen.
