The highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular web series "Mirzapur" is expanding its universe with the addition of two stellar actors.
Acclaimed actor Jitendra Kumar, known for his roles in "Panchayat" and "Kota Factory," and Bhojpuri superstar-politician Ravi Kishan have officially joined the cast of the crime thriller.
This exciting development comes as the original cast, including Pankaj Tripathi (Kaleen Bhaiya), Ali Fazal (Guddu Pandit), and Divyenndu (Munna Tripathi), are set to reprise their iconic roles for the big screen.
The film, tentatively titled "Mirzapur: The Film," was officially launched with a mahurat puja ceremony, which was attended by both Kumar and Kishan.
While details about their characters are being kept under wraps as a "big surprise for the fans," their inclusion has significantly heightened the anticipation for the movie.
It is not yet clear if they will portray new characters or take on roles familiar to the series' viewers.
Pre-production work, including look tests and reading sessions, is already underway, with both new actors actively participating.
Filming is expected to commence next month.
The movie, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and created by Puneet Krishna, marks a significant milestone as the first Indian web series to be adapted into a feature film.
It is slated for a theatrical release in 2026. Ali Fazal has previously hinted that the film might explore events from the past, suggesting a possible prequel element to the storyline.
