Summary: Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s period drama Ranabaali finished its first week with ₹52.55 crore India gross and ₹63.65 crore worldwide.
Mixed reviews, a slow start and the Jailer 2 wave have raised questions about whether the high-budget Telugu film can avoid a box office loss.
Description: Released on October 16, Ranabaali was billed as Vijay Deverakonda’s comeback after Kingdom. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the Telugu period action drama is set during the Madras Famine of 1876–78.
It is also the first release of Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna since their February 2026 marriage. It opened at roughly ₹16.5 crore worldwide gross.
That put it among Vijay’s top five openers, though well short of Kingdom, and its opening weekend closed near ₹36.9 crore worldwide. Sacnilk’s week-one tally stands at ₹52.55 crore India gross and ₹63.65 crore worldwide. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana supplied roughly 85% of the India gross through five days. Overseas numbers are a worry because the film was sold at the highest overseas price of Vijay’s career.
Reviews were mixed, and the background score has drawn criticism. Sacnilk still ranks it as the second-biggest October release among South Indian films worldwide, behind Jailer 2.
It also notes several career milestones despite a slower weekend hold. With the Dussehra holidays over, the weekday numbers in week two will largely decide whether Ranabaali recovers its cost.
