Ashish Vidyarthi Addresses Controversy Over Being Called by First Name, Calls Apoorva Mukhija a 'Wonderful Human Being'
Veteran actor Ashish Vidyarthi has responded to the recent controversy that emerged after actor Sudhanshu Pandey criticized influencer Apoorva Mukhija for addressing Vidyarthi by his first name on the reality show 'The Traitors'.
Vidyarthi revealed that Mukhija has since apologized to him, and he holds no ill will towards her, praising her character.
The issue began when Pandey publicly slammed Mukhija for what he perceived as a lack of respect towards a senior actor.
During an Instagram live session, Pandey questioned Mukhija's informal address, stating it was not "cool" and labeled such behavior as a "curse on our society".
He expressed that even though his own children are from the Gen-Z generation, they are respectful towards their elders.
In response to the ensuing debate, Vidyarthi clarified his stance in an interview, stating he only became aware of Pandey's criticism after the show.
He explained that he views Mukhija's style of communication as part of her personality.
"Her style is like that, you know. The way she talks, her existence, her persona... it's all like that," Vidyarthi commented. "She does her thing, and I do mine; that's fine."
Vidyarthi shared that Mukhija sent him a WhatsApp message to apologize, which he graciously accepted.
He then called her and reassured her, calling her a "wonderful human being" with a lot of dignity who is devoted to her family.
He also mentioned that he advised her to "choose her own path" despite external pressures.
The seasoned actor also reflected on the generational differences in communication, noting that his time on 'The Traitors' was a learning experience.
He admitted that interacting with younger participants like Mukhija made him realize he had been somewhat detached from their world and their ways of interacting.
Vidyarthi downplayed the incident, viewing it as a "reflection of real life" where one encounters all kinds of people.
He also added that a bit of drama is essential to make a story interesting, suggesting that such moments should not be taken to heart.
The two have since made plans to have lunch together, indicating that the matter has been amicably resolved between them.
