Isha Koppikar on "Don 3": "A Huge Responsibility" for the New Generation

Actress Isha Koppikar, who played the memorable role of Anita in the 2006 film "Don:

The Chase Begins Again," has weighed in on the upcoming third installment of the franchise, calling it a "huge responsibility."

In a recent interview, Isha Koppikar shared her thoughts on Ranveer Singh stepping into the iconic titular role, a character previously immortalized by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Isha Koppikar expressed that with each new generation, actors take on the challenge of recreating past superhits. "It is a great responsibility.

First Shah Rukh Khan took it on his shoulders, now Ranveer Singh is taking it on his. I wish them good luck," she stated.

She added that she is confident the team will make a good film, noting that a "great team is working behind it."

Her comments highlight the pressure and expectations that come with carrying forward such a beloved and successful franchise.

The original "Don" (1978) was a massive success, and its 2006 remake, starring Shah Rukh Khan, also garnered significant commercial and critical acclaim, followed by a sequel, "Don 2," in 2011.

Reflecting on her experience working on the first "Don" film, Koppikar praised the stellar ensemble cast which included Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

She described the competitive and creative environment on set, saying, "When you have good actors and technicians around, it pushes your limits, and you want to do more and better...When you work with the best, it gets the best out of you."

While Koppikar was a part of the first film, she was not cast in the sequel, a decision she has previously admitted was disappointing.

The upcoming "Don 3" will be directed by Farhan Akhtar, who also helmed the previous two installments.

The film is set to star Ranveer Singh in the lead role, with Kriti Sanon recently confirmed as the female lead.

The project is slated to begin filming in January 2026.

While there have been casting changes and challenges, the makers are reportedly still searching for an A-list actor to play the antagonist.
